I love the beach!!
Today I'm planning to just hang out in Jerusalem. I went to this incredibly beautiful little quarter of town with my dad a couple weeks ago and I want to bring my friends there, it's so pretty! It's the artists' quarter and basically the city pays them a stipend to go live in this beautiful, beautiful neighborhood that has an incredible view of the Old City and be inspired! It's great. The neighborhood is covered in plants and trees and flowers and there are little lakes and waterfalls and a windmill! Although the windmill is not completely related, but still. It's gorgeous and silent and wonderful and I can't wait.
This was a four day weekend because of Purim, the Jewish version of Halloween, so yesterday when I was shopping I saw hundreds of stupidly adorable little children dressed in the cutest costumes! And their parents, generally wearing funny wigs or carrying wands or some such. It was great! And in the middle of the day too! I love Israel.
Okay and now I need your help: if any of the like four people who read this have any food/recipe suggestions, I would love to hear them! I am pretty lazy so keep it simple and preferably healthy but still tasty! Let me know, I am desperate for new food ideas. Pita and hummus is getting a little old, unsurprisingly.
Oh my god I want to go to the artists' quarter! That sounds gorgeous, I'm so jealous. That picture is awesome btw. Also, I have a ton of recipes from my mom (both food and baked goods). I'll try to synthesize some of the best ones and email them to you.
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful! I took a bunch of pictures, I'll put them up as soon as I stop being lazy haha. Also yay for recipes! I can't wait! :)
ReplyDeleteThe absolute simplest thing that I can recommend is kitchen sink pasta. It's not a real recipe - I mostly made it up out of desperation, but it turns out very well. There are three easy steps, to be done in (sort of) tandem. I think the third step will probably take the most time, although if you add meatballs, the second step will also be long and you'll want to start with that first.
ReplyDelete1. Make some spaghetti (or your choice of pasta), per the box instructions.
2. Heat some tomato/marinara/pasta sauce. You know, the kind that comes with flavors like "Tomato and Basil" or "Tomato and Mushroom" or "Lots of Tomatoes". If you want meatballs with your pasta, you will want to put them in with the sauce and heat them slowly on a very low stove setting. That will probably take around 20 minutes (the meatballs).
3. In a pan, saute random vegetables from your refrigerator with some olive oil. (I've done mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, onions, green onions, olives, green beans... Obviously you'll want to wash/cut them beforehand.)
Then throw it all in a bowl together and eat. Tada! You'll feel accomplished (as in, I did something that doesn't come directly from a package!), and it will have been relatively easy. Of course if you're not so much of a fan of vegetables and meatballs and pasta and tomato sauce all mixed up together, that might be somewhat of a problem.
That sounds amazing! And hilariously like a recipe I've been using recently, but with fewer veggies. I can't wait to give it a try! Here's an idea: instead of meatballs, I added tuna and mozzarella; sounds gross but tastes delicious!
ReplyDeleteAhh! I'm so jealous of that photo, my boyfriend/ex and I tried for at least half an hour when we were overseas to get that photo, haha. Apparently i just fail at jumping.
ReplyDeleteThat quarter sounds absolulely amazing. Maybe I missed my calling as a Jewish artist :( And I don't think you want any cooking advice from me, haha!
Yeah it took us a couple tries! But we figured it out. The trick is to count off right!
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful! I need to upload my pictures so people can see it! Haha and I think we were all thinking the same thing! As for cooking advice, I'll take it where I can get it! If you're like me and don't like cooking, that's even better! You'll understand my laziness. :)
MORE PHOTOS. The artists' quarter sounds so grand!
ReplyDeleteSoon! I promise! It was beautiful!
